Start with your gate
Fort Benning has five gates families use: the main gate off I-185, the NIM gate by the National Infantry Museum, Harmony Church off US-27, the Lawson Airfield gate at Eddy Bridge on the Alabama side, and Sand Hill on Custer Road, which keeps short weekday hours. Tap yours.

Heads up on Sand Hill: the Custer Road gate is open weekdays 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. only and closed on weekends and federal holidays. Don’t build your daily commute around it; plan on the main gate as your backup.
